Incident TypeArrested Person
Incident Date06/14/2018 - 9:31 PM
Address700 Gammon Road
ArrestedAustin R. Hoke, 18-year-old male of Madison Wisconsin
CHARGES: Operating A Motor Vehicle Without Owners Consent
DetailsShortly after 9:31pm on 6/14/2018, officers located an unoccupied stolen vehicle near the 700 block of Gammon Road. They started to process the car, to make a determination if any evidence was maybe left behind, and located a cell phone and an ID card. The ID belonged to an Austin R. Hoke. Officers continued to start making arrangements for how to get this car back to its rightful owner, when a male subject approached police.
The more questions they asked of the curious male, the closer officers got to determining the ID actually belonged to the subject they were conversing with; Austin Hoke! Officers asked questions as to why Hoke's ID would be inside of a stolen vehicle, but he could only offer an explanation that he was the passenger in the car and knew nothing else. Officers attempted to give Hoke the benefit of the doubt, allowing him to give more information to implicate the true culprit, but Hoke advised that he would remain firm on not giving any information about who the driver of the vehicle was on this date.
Officers were left with little choice and placed, the only person they could connect to the stolen vehicle, under arrest for charges listed above. It is probable that Hoke returned to the stolen vehicle to retreive his personal items, but that is speculatory at best. Hoke was conveyed to the Dane County Jail on charges listed.
