Incident Date

06/19/2018 - 11:22 AM

3000 block Union Street

Black male, late 30's, 5'06 -5'07,wearing dark colored shirt riding a black bicycle. Teardrop facial tattoo.

MPD officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of Union Street on June 19, 2018 at about 11:27 am for the report of a man armed with a hammer.  A male had come to the door of a residence there asking for "Sara".  The man was told that there was no one by that name who lived at the residence.  The man then suddenly and inexplicably took a hammer form a backpack he was carrying.  He then struck at the screen door, smashing it and causing it to come out of its frame.  The resident was able to close and secure the interior door.  The man then turned his attention to the front window of the home.  He struck the window with the hammer causing the glass to shatter. Shards of glass came into the living room.  Although terribly frightened, the two residents at home at the time were not injured.
The man is known to several people in the neighborhood by a nickname. Charges are pending for the suspect for disorderly conduct while armed and criminal damage to property once he is positively identified and located. Victims and witnesses speculate that the man may have been influenced by the use of unknown intoxicants.
