One person was pronounced deceased at the scene of this crash and another was admitted to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The crash investigation is on going.  The roadway has been re-opened.

On June 25, 2018, Gavin R Veium of Madison was released from the hospital and transported to the Dane County jail.  He is tentatively charged with Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle, ss940.09 (1)(a) and Second Degree Reckless Homicide, ss940.06(1).


The 22 year old Veium of Madison suffered non-life threatening injuries in a crash which claimed the life of 45-year-old Diano L. McCullough of Madison.

At approximately 3:37 AM the Madison police department responded to a two vehicle crash at the intersection of John Nolen Dr. and S. Blair St.  When officers arrived they saw that two vehicles were engulfed in flames.  Injured parties were transported to a local hospital.  Due to the complexity of this investigation the area will be closed to traffic until later this morning.  The following roads are temporarily closed: John Nolen Dr. from Broom St. to Williamson St., Williamson St. from S. Blount to John Nolen Dr., S. Blair at Main St., and E. Wilson in front of the Come Back Inn.  Please use alternate routes until further notice.  MPD's investigation into this accident is ongoing.
