The MPD's Violent Crime Unit developed probable cause to arrest a suspect on a tentative charge of attempted first degree intentional homicide. Kenneth W. House, Jr., age 20, Madison was taken into custody - without incident - near Vera Court yesterday afternoon. House had a loaded handgun in a pocket at the time of his arrest. The MPD's Gang Unit and members of the East District Community Police Team assisted VCU in the successful apprehension operation.

A 59 year old Madison man was transported to a local hospital after being struck by gunfire in a residence in the 1200 block of Gilson Street. The extent of injuries is not known at his time.

The shooting is believed to stem from a preexisting conflict between the shooter and the victim.  This appears to be a targeted shooting and members of the public are not directly in danger as a result.

Details

On Wednesday, 6-27-18 a shooting occurred on the south side of Madison. There is believed to be no danger to the community at this time. If you have information on this incident contact Madison Police or Crimestoppers. The investigation is continuing.
