Downtown officers are warning UW-Madison students to be aware of a scam artist who claims to have a downtown parking spot for rent, which it not true.
Tony V. Fountain, who also uses the name "Bama Flow" in online communications, was arrested earlier this summer for taking rent money from victims for a Hawthorne Court parking spot he does not control. He has "rented" the same spot out to multiple people for the same time period.
Yesterday, a new victim told police she gave Fountain $400 for year's rent of the parking spot.
Victims have made contact with Fountain via a Facebook group page where University of Wisconsin students can seek apartments, parking spots and other items for rent or sale.
The owner of the property, containing the parking place, was asked by police if he knew Fountain: "No, I have never heard of him, and he does not have permission to rent out parking spaces."
Officers are preparing new probable cause documents and plan to arrest Fountain again soon.
