Update

The MPD's Violent Crime Unit has made three arrests stemming from the shooting on Linda Vista Rd. this week.

 

Detectives determined there was a prearranged fight – between two factions - that was take place, and that the primary suspect brought a handgun to what was to be a fistfight.

 

The primary suspect, Duan S. Briggs, age 21, Madison, is not a student in the Madison Metropolitan School District. Jamie J.C. Hayes, age 17, Madison, was arrested for being party to a crime of attempted homicide. He is not currently enrolled in the Madison Metropolitan School District. The third arrested person, a 16-year-old, who faces a tentative charge of disorderly conduct, is a student at La Follette High School.

 

The victim, who is also a La Follette student, was treated and released for a gunshot wound.

Details

 The MPD is on the scene of a shooting where a teenager suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound this morning. Callers to 911 reported a fight between several young men at the corner of Linda Vista Rd. and Turner Ave. around 10:40 a.m. Witnesses also reported at least one gun being fired. The wounded boy was found walking in the area. Officers are in the process of interviewing witnesses. The area of the shooting is currently closed to traffic.
