Incident Report for Case #2018-462420

Incident Type

Weapons Violation

Incident Date

11/28/2018 - 10:01 PM

Address

800 Block Troy Drive

Victim(s)

Female, 36 years old

Update

Inside the apartment that was struck, officers found two bedrooms with bullet holes. In one, brothers – ages seven and five – were sleeping. In the other, the boys' mother was awake preparing a bottle for her baby who was in a nearby crib.  It was a close call, and the children's mom was crying and hyperventilating while telling officers that she and her children were nearly hit. Her husband was at work during the gun violence. At this time, there is no reason to believe the family was targeted. It appears much more likely that their home was hit by at least one errant bullet. Outside, investigators recovered eight casings, spread over 15 feet, along nearby School Rd. The pattern would indicate shots were being fired from something that was moving, but not very fast. There were numerous calls to the 911 center. One witness did see a minivan and a dark colored sedan driving somewhat slowly through the area around the time of the gunfire.
