In order to facilitate greater distribution of the City’s bid opportunities, the City of Madison now publishes all bids on the internet through DemandStar by Onvia, the leading government purchasing network that brings together an extensive database of government agencies and vendors on the internet. Their service enables us to improve our service to you by providing automatic bid notification and instant access to bid information via the web.

We believe, this new system of electronic purchasing, represent the future of government purchasing. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to participate in this network.

For a minimum investment to DemandStar service, your company will enjoy maximum competitive advantage and a number of important benefits:

The annual subscription fee is $30 per county. Should you wish to expand your territory beyond the Dane County area, DemandStar.com offers state as well as national membership at nominal rates.

The City of Madison will work to encourage other purchasing agencies in our region to participate in the DemandStar.com network, thereby providing even greater value to you, the supplier. Click here to view other Wisconsin area cities and counties participating in the DemandStar program.

Please note: Purchasing no longer maintains a bidders’ list in house, and, as such, will no longer send unsolicited bid notices or documents by mail or fax. In order to ensure automatic notification of future bid or quote opportunities, you must be a paid subscriber to the DemandStar.com network.

However, participation in the DemandStar.com system is voluntary and not a requirement for doing business with the City of Madison. Suppliers may continue to monitor our website for bid activities. Bid documents can be downloaded from DemandStar for an administrative fee of $5.00 to non-subscribers by logging in as a basic subscriber under CREATE PROFILE. See instructions below. Bid notices will also continue to be published in local newspapers and other publications in accordance with prescribed laws.


Instructions to Access Bid Information via DemandStar

FOR NEW USERS:

  1. From the City of Madison website: http://www.cityofmadison.com/finance/purchasing/

  1. Click the Bid Opportunities link.

  2. Click the Download/Order link for the specific bid you want to view. Note: The download/order link appears in the ACTION column for ACTIVE bids only.

  3. For first time users who choose not to subscribe, you can still download documents by logging in as a basic subscriber under CREATE PROFILE. You will be asked to provide some basic information (such as company name, address, tel. no, contact, etc.) and create your user name and password.

  4. After agreeing to the terms of DemandStar Onvia, you will be taken to "My DemandStar" personalized page. The bid you selected will appear at the top of the page.

  5. Click Download bid package. You will be charged a minimal administrative fee of $5.00.
