Mowing in medians

Allowing for delays because of weather, each median will be mowed approximately between fourteen and seventeen times during the growing season.

Median mowing consists of the following:
  • Transporting equipment to each individual median throughout the City of Madison,
  • Picking up and removing litter and rocks,
  • Mowing,
  • Edging every other mowing cycle
  • Trimming around landscaping, signs and poles,
  • Removing grass clippings from streets, gutters, and concrete portions of medians.

landscaping ON JOHN NOLEN DRIVE & EAST WASHINGTON AVENUE

As two of Madison's most visible gateways, John Nolen Drive and East Washington Avenue need to make a great first impression. We are making significant investments in landscaping for these high-visibility areas to keep them looking good.

PROJECTS TO landscapE ON MEDIANS AND BOULEVARDS

Landscaping of boulevards and terraces has three practical payoffs - it makes them more attractive, it reduces the impact of hard surfaces, and it absorbs storm water. We work with neighborhood associations to coordinate landscaping projects.

Visit a Conservation Park

A conservation park differs in how it is managed and why the land was acquired. The goal of the conservation park is to restore native plant and animal communities while providing education areas and opportunities for everyone.
