Alternative Commuting Services Available For Employers

Employer services thru the Rideshare Etc service can assist businesses with setting up an alternative commuting resource for employees that help to save money, avoid traffic and parking hassles from commuting, and contribute to a healthier community.

The term Rideshare Etc. is used as an umbrella over all of the options -Metro Transit, State Vanpool, rideshare pools, bike commuting, and park n ride lot options.  The program is voluntary and the services are available at no charge or obligation.  We offer a range of program options from introductory to comprehensive TDM (Transportation Demand Management) Plans.

As an incentive to employees to participate in alternative commuting modes the Guaranteed Ride Home service is included and offers free taxi vouchers (limit 6 per year, $75 per ride) for cases of an emergency as a safety net for employees who are concerned about being at work without a vehicle.  Other incentives include free Metro Transit 10-ride cards to new riders so employees can try the bus on us. One-to-one assistance is also available for employees that may have questions so they can take advantage of the savings, which average $200 per month.

We can furnish all the materials needed to establish a program including brochures, posters, announcements, Metro Transit schedules/maps, State Vanpool route information and referrals, bike maps etc. to make it quick and easy for employees to obtain information/assistance at their work site.  A typical program is a one- or two day lunch hour drop in tabling event in the lunch room where a representative of the program is available to provide assistance to employees.

We utilize the RIDEPRO3 rideshare program software that provides a single source of information on alternative commuting options so employees can request a search based on their specific travel circumstances.  By identifying what services or available partners are in their home area the employee can choose the option that is best for her/him, if any.

We have worked with over two-hundred of the Madison area's employers and believe this program can be a work place amenity for your company.  The goal of the program is to reduce congestion and maintain air quality.  Through these voluntary efforts we hope to avoid the more serious levels of pollution and congestion in the Madison area.
