The Mission of the Madison Senior Center

Madison Senior Center, a City of Madison agency, involves older adults in their community and the Senior Center, as leaders, teachers and learners; provides a balance, diverse and coordinated program; and promotes the Senior Center as a model for the aging and aged.

Madison Senior Center Logo "In the Heart of Madison" describes not only the location of the Senior Center, in the heart of downtown Madison, but it also emphasizes that the senior center is actively involved in the community and activities especially geared for area seniors.

Programs

The Madison Senior Center goal is to promote successful aging. We offer a wide variety of classes ranging from beginning computer instruction to discussions on the Middle Ages and from gentle exercises to fast-paced Zumba dancing. We also provide information and Referral Services for those seeking help with taxes, health, housing and other concerns. We offer case management services three days per week, and a computerized information assistance program to help seniors and family members access available area services. Join us for special events throughout the year including Art and Photography Shows, Classic English Tea, Holiday Dinner, Junior/Senior Prom, and a Summer Picnic, to name a few. A variety of activities take place on an ongoing basis:

Senior Meal Program

Membership

The Senior Center has an open membership to area persons who are 55 years of age or older. There are no membership fees. Beginning January 2011, the Senior Center will use a new system for registering all visitors. The uCount Log uses a simple scanner and a bar code to identify you and the activity(ies) that you choose for each day. Participants and volunteers will register for their own bar code and receive a special ID card.

All personal and attendance information is strictly confidential. Information used from this system is numeric ONLY in aggregate groups. Participants may indicate emergency contacts, receive cancellation and change information, and can register in 15 seconds!

Please fill out the UCount Participation Form and bring it to the Senior Center to get your own ID card. YOU can help the Senior Center gather essential data, which demonstrates the importance of this facility to resources for financial support.

Program activities are available to seniors first. For certain activities, a senior scholarship is offered for those of modest income. Although there is no annual membership fee, persons are encouraged to make a donation to the center during our annual fundraising drive.
