Used motor oil is a hazardous substance that requires special handling. Used oil should not be put in the trash and should never be dumped in sewers or household drains.

The City of Madison has four drop-off sites for used motor oil and a fifth is operated by Dane County. These public sites are always open. You must empty your oil into a tank on site.
