drop off site information

The Streets Division has three yard waste drop-off sites for the use of City of Madison residents and taxpayers ONLY. Those using the site are required to show proof of residency or taxpayer status or they will be denied use of the site.

There are three sites at the following locations:


 

(Please note that the temporary drop-off site at 4141 Nakoosa Trail permanently closed at 4:30pm on Monday October 16.)

Yard Waste Drop-off Sites Hours:

Hours apply to all three of the drop-off sites.

These hours will be in effect Saturday, March 25, 2017 to Sunday, December 3, 2017

  • Monday 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Tuesday 8:30am - 8:00pm
  • Wednesday 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Thursday 8:30am - 8:00pm
  • Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Saturday 8:30am - 4:30pm
  • Sunday 8:30am - 4:30pm

 

Please note that the office hours are different from the drop-off site hours.

All three yard waste drop-off sites accept the following
  • Leaves
  • Grass clippings
  • Garden debris
  • Flowers and other plant waste.
  • Pumpkins and other organic fall decorations such as corn stalks and straw
  • Shrub trimmings shorter that 18”.
    • Tree and shrub trimmings longer than 18” are considered brush. Do not bring brush to 402 South Point Road.
  • Garlic Mustard should be placed in the trash.
  • Small amounts of sod (4 or 5 five-gallon pails per day). Larger amounts of sod must be taken directly to the Dane County Rodefeld site.
  • The drop off sites at 1501 W. Badger Rd. and 4602 Sycamore Ave accept other materials. For details.

Brush

Brush is accepted at 4602 Sycamore Ave. and 1501 W. Badger Rd.

All brush brought to the drop off sites must conform to the curbside collection guidelines. For details...

THERE IS A LIMIT OF ONE PICK UP OR SMALL TRAILER LOAD OF BRUSH PER DAY.

Large amounts of brush can be taken to our brush processing center at 121 E. Olin Ave for a fee. for more information on the Olin Ave Site

Winter Hours:

Hours apply to the Badger Road and Sycamore Avenue sites. The South Point Road site is closed during the winter season.

Holiday Closings

The City of Madison self-help drop-off sites will be closed on the following holidays:

  • January 1st, New Year's Day (observed in 2017 on Monday, January 2)
  • January 16, Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday
  • May 29, Memorial Day
  • July 4, Independence Day
  • September 4, Labor Day
  • November 23 & 24, Thanksgiving Holiday
  • December 24th, Christmas Eve the sites close at 11 a.m.
  • December 25th, Christmas Day (observed in 2016 on Monday, December 26)
  • December 31st, New Year's Eve the sites close at 11 a.m.
