YOUR WATER BILL
Your water bill is only one part of the Madison Municipal Services bill that is sent every six months. The average six-month residential Madison Municipal Services bill as of June 2012 is $310.13, and includes the following:
- Water and sewer meter charges
- Water use (metered water consumption)
- Sewer use
- Landfill remediation
- Storm sewer
- Public fire protection
The cost for 1,000 gallons of water is $2.81 and for sewer $2.33. Overall use in the city in 2011 was 102.31 gallons per person per day, though less for residential accounts—65.2 gallons per person per day.

Can I be billed monthly?
A customer who wishes to prepay toward the next scheduled billing may do so. Please contact Water Utility Customer Service to arrange to make monthly or quarterly payments in advance. Call (608) 266-4641.
