Lead and Copper Levels at Customer Taps Sampling at customers’ taps has shown that copper levels in drinking water are well below allowable EPA limits throughout the water system. Lead levels, however, exceeded EPA limits for customers served by lead water service lines. The EPA, Wisconsin DNR, and Madison Water Utility have determined that the most effective means of attaining the lead standard is to replace all of the lead service lines from the water main to the water meter. |
