Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are derived from petroleum products or from solvents or cleaners. VOC concentrations in our water are all below the MCLs established by the EPA. Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs) and 5 Haloacetic Acids (HAA5) are regulated under the Disinfection Byproducts (DBP) Rule, which establishes monitoring for substances formed in water treated with disinfectants for control of microorganisms. Since levels of organic matter in our source water are low and we introduce relatively small amounts of chlorine, our TTHM and HAA5 levels are also very low.
