“Hearing and Hearing Loss: What Did You Say?”

Do you ever find yourself asking “what?” or feel like people are mumbling? Do you have trouble hearing in noisy places?  Have you ever wondered whether you may have a hearing loss?  Audiologist Dr. Melanie Buhr-Lawler and audiology doctoral students from the UW-Madison Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders will explain the types and causes of hearing loss; and discuss hearing aid technology and other treatment options.  Hearing screenings and hearing aid cleanings will be provided free of charge following the presentation.  Call 266-6581 to reserve your spot.

Audiologist Dr. Melanie Buhr-Lawler is a clinical associate professor in the UW-Madison Communication Sciences and Disorders.  She is the Audiology Clinic Coordinator for the UW Speech and Hearing Clinic (UWSHC).  Dr. Buhr-Lawler directs the UW Hearing Aid Recycling Program and coordinates the hearing screening program for the Dane County Head Start program.  Dr. Buhr-Lawler teaches audiology at UW-Madison and supervises graduate students in the UWSHC, where they provide diagnostic hearing evaluation and hearing aid services to individuals of all ages.
