Information Important to District 1 Neighbors

December 5, 2016 11:17 AM

Roads in general were in pretty good shape in the Madison area and most of southern Wisconsin, but there were some slippery stretches on highways heading north and northeast.

The snow that started to fall during the morning hours of Sunday, December 4, 2016, stopped before midnight. All snow and ice that accumulated from this event shall be removed the public sidewalks by 12:00 noon on Monday, December 5, 2016. Ice that cannot be removed shall be treated with sand and/or salt to provide traction. Free sand can be found at the locations contained in the following link:

Monday, December 5th
Central Library (3rd Floor)
Wednesday, December 7th
Village on Park in the Atrium Community Room.

A primary goal of Imagine Madison is to reach, listen to, and record the ideas of a broad and diverse cross section of the public, on topics including housing, transportation, racial equity, sustainability and others.

Imagine Madison coincides with and update of the City's Comprehensive Plan--a strategy document that lays out the vision for the community for decades to come. Significantly, the Comprehensive Plan is updated only once every decade.

5:30--6:15: Open House Refreshments
6:15--7:15: Interactive Presentation
1. How Madison is changing: data and trends.
2. Overview of the Imagine Madison Campaign and Comprehensive Plan Update.
3. Identifying the most important goals for our community's future.

7:15--8:00: Open House
Please note there are two Imagine Madison Kickoff . Both meetings will feature the same presentation.

The City of Madison will be constructing a new playground at Waldorf Park!  New playground equipment will be installed in 2017.
The City of Madison held a playground workshop regarding the project on November 3, 2016 and information from this first meeting is available on the park's webpage located here:
Staff used input gathered from this meeting to develop two playground concepts that will be presented at a follow-up playground meeting.
Please plan to attend to cast your vote for the playground design to be installed at your park in 2017!
If you have any questions and comments regarding the Waldorf Park playground please direct them to Kate Kane, Landscape Architect, at or (608) 261-9671.

Please join MadWest Neighborhood Association and myself for a preliminary information input session prior to the City Planning "Open House" on Thursday December 15 to discuss the update of the "High Point - Raymond Neighborhood Development Plan".
This is extremely important to residents as this plan encompasses the current undeveloped property bordered by High Point Rd, Midtown Road, HWY M and Newberry Heights and potentially has impact to a number of surrounding communities as well.

High Point - Raymond Neighborhood Development Plan

In late 2016, the City of Madison will start a process to update the land use and transportation recommendations for the undeveloped portions of the Plan.  The Plan covers approximately 1,400 acres generally bounded by CTH PD, CTH M, the Valley View Road roundabout and High Point Road/Elver Park.

For the initial project schedule signup for the weekly updates in the project.  As meeting dates are finalized, they will be posted to the page. .
