Independent Police Monitor Hiring Process

The Police Civilian Oversight Board will be discussing the process for hiring an Independent Police Monitor at its meeting on Thursday.

  • Are you interested in starting a career in construction but don't have any prior experience?  The MC3 pre-apprenticeship training program can help you obtain industry-recognized certifications and give you an opportunity to meet with employers.  Register for the free information session on Tuesday, March 16, 5pm, to learn more about the upcoming MC3 (Multi-Craft Core Curriculum) Training Program.
  • Hollaback!, in partnership with Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC), is offering three free, virtual bystander trainings on how to safely respond to anti-Asian/American harassment when you witness it or when you experience it yourself: Bystander Intervention to Stop Anti-Asian/American and Xenophobic Harassment Training; Bystander Intervention 2.0: Conflict De-Escalation Training; and How to Respond to Harassment for People Experiencing Anti-Asian/American Harassment Training.  To learn more about and register for each training, click here.

  • Need help finding local financial resources?  Contact the Financial Resources Hotline for free, confidential help by phone. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on Madison residents' finances, and the Financial Resources Hotline can provide referrals to resources and basic information that might help address concerns. Sign up online to receive a call from a financial navigator or sign up for a session by calling Madison Public Library at 608-315-5151.  Read more here.

  • The City of Madison Streets Division is proud to announce the inaugural Master Recycler Program.  Read more here.
  • The Spring Election is April 6, 2021.  Several offices are up for election.  Read more here.
  • On March 10, Public Health Madison & Dane County released Madison Dane County Violence Prevention: A Roadmap to Reducing Violence.  The five-year plan is guided by a public health approach to violence prevention and provides five evidence-based goals and accompanying strategies and objectives.  Read more here.
  • Bus Lines Poetry Contest 2021 submissions are due Monday, March 15.  Send in your short poem, haiku, prose poems or excerpts from longer poems (3-15 lines total).  Submissions can be in any language.  This year's theme is "Looking forward – how we will celebrate when we can be together again in the community."  Complete information here.
  • Metro Transit and the City of Madison Transportation Commission held a public hearing to review and discuss service adjustments proposed for later in 2021.The alternate proposal was approved by the commission for implementation in August.  The commission also approved the complete list of bus stop changes.
