All will start with an open house from 6:00-6:30 pm. An interactive presentation and small group activities will take place from 6:30-7:45 pm. Community members will be asked to identify the strategies the City should pursue to accomplish the community goals identified in Phase 1. Meeting participants will also be able to see recommendations for an updated Future Land Use Map and offer input about how they think the city should grow and develop.

All four meetings will have identical schedules:

   6:00-6:30pm      Open House

6:30-7:45pm      Presentation and Small Group Activities

Presentations and small group activities will cover two main topics:

Future Land Use Map: How should the city grow and change?

Strategies: What steps should we take to achieve our shared community goals?

Refreshments and childcare will be provided. Spanish and Hmong interpreters will be at each meeting.Story map EmaiUpdate Image.png]

New Story Map – "What is Density"

One of the main topics of discussion for Phase 2 of Imagine Madison is the updated Future Land Use Map, which makes recommendations for future growth throughout our city and planned expansion areas. Planning Division Staff have combed through the existing map and made updates based on recent neighborhood plans, recent development trends, and map change requests from the early comment period.

One of the biggest changes is a shift to new land use categories that incorporate building height and form in addition to dwelling unit density. This will make the Future Land Use Map easier to use and implement because most people interact with the urban environment based on what buildings look like and how large they are; dwelling unit density can be a very misleading. To better understand the interplay of building height, form, and density, we've created a new and exciting story map<https://cityofmadison.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Cascade/index.html?appid=c0a831d229484de7b65187dfaa438b76> using recent development examples. Take a look if you want a bit of background information going into our Phase 2 discussions.

Imagine Madison Planning Pop-Ins

Do you, your friends, neighbors, or coworkers want to have a more in-depth discussion about Imagine Madison and the future of our community? City Planning staff are available for a Planning Pop-In with your group. Let us know where and when you'd like to meet and if there are any specific topics concerning the City's Comprehensive Plan Update you'd like to talk about. We'd love to meet with you!

We hope to see many of you at our upcoming community meetings!
