  • First Immigration Resource Fair: In conjunction with the Mexican Mobile Consulate's visit to Madison College's Goodman South Campus, 2429 Perry St., we invite the community to attend an Immigration Resource Fair Sunday, Nov. 21 at the campus. Attendees will have an opportunity to consult with Madison College's Legal Clinic volunteer lawyers, learn about creating an emergency contact plan, meet with area community organizations who provide immigration resources, have documents notarized, and much more! See attached flyer. Services available in Spanish. Thanks to the WI Department of Health Services, there will also be COVID-19 vaccinations available, including for children ages 5 and up, on a first-come-first served basis.

  • The opening ceremony for 'To Hold You,' a temporary, collectively woven hammock sculpture, will take place at James Madison Park on Sunday, November 21, from 3pm-5pm. Participants are invited to weave reclaimed, naturally dyed strips of fabric into an upright hammock wall. At 4:00pm, there will be a guided moving meditation. Learn more about the event here.

Announcements, press releases, press conferences, etc.

  • As the City works to plan reconstruction on an iconic passage into the City of Madison, so many people and ideas contributed to the current skyline and beautiful drive into the heart of the city on John Nolen Drive. Everyday Engineering podcast host and Engineering Public Information Officer Hannah Mohelnitzky hosts Madison historian and author David Mollenhoff to talk about what ideas and designs were initially planned for the city's most well-known street, the vision of John Nolen, collaboration with American Architect Frank Lloyd Wright (among many impressive others, too!) and the lasting legacy that may have you saying "Thank you, John Nolen!" the next time you drive downtown. Download/share/listen link.
  • Streets Division drop-off sites hours are changing soon. The winter hours officially begin on Monday, November 29. This also means the final Saturday hours for 2021 at the Streets Division drop-off sites will be Saturday, November 27. Learn more here.
  • Heartmob is an initiative to fight online abuse where individuals can share their stories and receive help from a community of vetted bystanders in the form of supportive messages or by asking to report and document abusive behavior.  They are excited to announce the relaunch of the anti-online harassment platform Heartmob and the Coalition Against Online Violence's Online Violence Resources Hub as complementary tools to support women and gender-expansive journalists.
