Sheboygan Avenue Construction Project

Hello neighbors! I am forwarding information regarding a water main installation project that will be starting soon:

 

Madison Water Utility Customer:

Madison Water Utility will be beginning a water main installation project on Sheboygan Ave in early to mid-September 2017. The project will consist primarily of replacing the old and undersized 6-inch diameter water main with new 12-inch water main on Sheboygan Avenue between Whitney Way and Segoe Road. The work is a part of a multi-project effort to improve water supply and fire protection to the new Hill Farms complex and the adjacent service areas. The work will be completed by December 1, 2017. The City of Madison Common Council has awarded this project to Speedway Sand and Gravel, Inc.

Construction impacts will include temporary removal of street parking, sidewalk closures and short-duration driveway closures. Traffic will typically be restricted to one lane in each direction, with some work requiring closure of all but one lane of traffic. This work will be restricted to off- peak hours (9am -3pm) and will be controlled with flagging. Property owners will receive two days notice of temporary blockages of driveways. Traffic on Sheboygan and its intersections with Whitney Way, Eau Claire Ave and Segoe Rd will be affected; residents and neighbors are requested to use alternate routes whenever possible.

Bus service and routes along Sheboygan Ave will remain unchanged but there is the potential for temporary bus stop relocations.

There will be one to two temporary water service outages for some customers. Property owners will receive two days notice of planned water service outages. Please note that customers outside of the immediate construction limits may also experience water service outages.
