Events

• Imprinted in Madison: Artists Making Their Mark features prints by contemporary artists whose paths brought them to or through Madison. The exhibition showcases a wide variety of prints and printmaking processes from internationally exhibited artists and locally celebrated printmakers alike. It will be on display in the Madison Municipal Building from February 25, 2022, through February 17, 2023. Learn more here.

Announcements

• Town of Madison Attachment - The next public information meeting involving the Town of Madison Attachment is scheduled for 6pm, March 16, 2022, via Zoom. The meeting will have simultaneous interpretation in Spanish and it will be streamed at the Madison Municipal Building room 153 (English) and MMB room 151 (Spanish) for those who do not have access to a digital device at home. Registration prior is required: March 16, 2022 Public Information Meeting.
• On Monday, March 7, Governor Tony Evers announced the launch of the Wisconsin Help for Homeowners (WHH) program-- a $92 million statewide program. Eligible homeowners (with and without a mortgage) who have experienced financial hardship because of the coronavirus pandemic can now receive financial assistance with overdue housing-related bills like mortgage payments, local property taxes, utilities, housing counseling and legal services. Eligible households can receive a maximum award of $40,000. Total WHH monetary assistance below $10,000 will be structured as a grant. Assistance exceeding $10,000 will be provided as a 1-year, non-interest bearing, non-amortizing forgivable loan due in full upon sale, refinance, or transfer of ownership. If no resale, transfer, or refinance within 1 year and the homeowner remains in the home, the loan will be fully forgiven. You may qualify if you meet all of the following:
• Homeowner whose primary residence is a single-family home, condominium, owner-occupied 2- to 4-unit properties, or a manufactured home (permanently affixed and taxed as real property)
• Household income is at or below 100% Area Median Income
• Experienced a qualified hardship after January 21, 2020

Application is live and open on a first-come, first-served basis at homeownerhelp.wi.gov. To get additional information and assistance, call 1-855-2-HOME-WI (4663-94). Application portal and call center are available in Spanish, Hmong, and Somali in addition to English.

If you are a renter or landlord in need of financial assistance as a result of the pandemic, you can still access financial assistance through Dane CORE 2.0 Emergency Rental Assistance.

• On March 9, Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway and County Executive Joe Parisi announced the selection of a location on which to build a permanent shelter facility serving men experiencing homeless. The property, 1902 Bartillon Drive, is already owned by the City. The leaders committed to work together and with the network of local service providers and other community stakeholders to develop the shelter, secure needed resources, and ensure its successful operation. Save the Date

• For more than 20 years, Madison Parks has honored Earth Day by recruiting volunteers for the Earth Day Challenge. This year, cleanup projects are available at select parks throughout Madison on Saturday, April 23, between 10am and 12pm. Madison Parks is seeking more than 850 volunteers at 50+ parks to assist with trash pickup, raking, weeding, removing sticks, and more. All ages are welcome to participate.
