The Avenue - Plan Commission Meeting Monday

The MDC proposal (UDC documents) for The Avenue at 1954 E Washington Avenue will be before the Madison Plan Commision this coming Monday.

The Planning Department has sent out postcards to nearby residents, however there is an error in the postcard which indicated that the project was for 30 apartment units instead of 44 apartments as indicated on the revised plan. A revised postcard will be sent out this week.

The revised plan as proposed would create a 4 story building "Proposed Building A" with 44 units along E Washington Avenue and will replace the existing building to the west of the main building. The proposed plan is inserted below:

On January 23, 2019, revised applications were filed with the City of Madison Dept. of Planning & Community & Economic Development for rezoning of 1954 East Washington Avenue from TR-V2 (Traditional Residential-Varied 2) to TR-U1 (Traditional Residential-Urban 1), and a Demolition Permit and Conditional Use, to demolish an eight-unit townhouse to construct a four-story apartment building with 44 apartments in an existing residential building complex. NOTE: This is a correction to a prior notice citing 30 apartment units.

 

I want to personally note the work of the Emerson East Neigborhood Association, the development sub-committee and it's chair who have been extrodinarily engaged in this project. Your work has brought about substaintail revisions to the plan. To all residents who have been a part of this process, I encourage you to continue to be engaged with your neigborhood and your city.
