The Streets Division will be providing one last chance for curbside collection for leaves and yard waste.

We're in phase two of budget season, focusing now on the 2022 Operating Budget.

Now that the spring election is over, alders who had opposition in their re-election campaigns are again able to use city resources to disseminate information to constituents.

I can't ignore the spectacle we were subjected to Tuesday night. The "debate" was a low-water mark in our democracy. Rather than dwelling on it to the point of despair, let's choose to double down on our own expressions of participatory democracy.

Spring is here, slowing but surely.

If you're like me, you're looking forward to being outdoors and getting your hands in the dirt.

But what to do with all that yard waste?

This is the final weekend to use the Streets Division's drop-off sites in 2019.  This is also the final weekend for Madison residents to use the yard waste only drop-off site at 402 South Point Rd until it closes for the season.

The Streets Division will begin the final guaranteed round of brush collection of the year next Monday, October 14.

We've enjoyed some lovely weather, but, sadly, summer is over and fall has begun.

Streets Division collection crews are wrapping up the final round, and it is too late to add additional material to the curb to guarantee pick up.

Backyard composting of yard waste is optimal.  Half of the phosphorous load in our urban stormwater can be attributed to leaves in the street.  But not everybody can compost, so please take note of this update from the city on the final round this spring for yard waste collection.
