Madison College – South Campus on the Road to REALITY
Many individuals, community organization and myself have advocated for the South Campus expansion. I must say that some folks have been involved in this effort since 1989. I want to take the time to say well done to all who participated in the effort to keep and expand Madison College South Campus.
On Monday, Dr. Jack Daniels two donations totaling $11.3 million for the purchase of the State of Wisconsin ETF building located on Badger Road in the Burr Oaks neighborhood. The contributions from the Irwin a. and Robert D. Goodman Foundation and the American Family Insurance Dreams Foundation will cover the cost for phase 1 of the project. This phase includes the purchase of the property and the development of the facility. The phase 1 facility will be home to learning spaces, student support services, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education that will allow students, specifically students from MMSD to earn college credits in conjunction with earning their high school diploma.
Madison College will continue to fundraise for phase 2 which will involve a second expansion of the facility/complex to include more services, classroom and a community space.
Bravo everyone Bravo!
Tree Removal on Ocean Road
The City of Madison Engineering crews will remove box elder and buckthorn trees in the storm water greenway near Ocean Road. They will be trimming an overhanging limb from a large cottonwood tree on city property at 1010 Ocean Road. The map shows the approximate location of the trimming (outlined in red), as well as the area of this mailing (parcels higlighted in orange). The trees are marked with pink paint. Due to the height of the cottonwood tree, City Engineering was unable to mark the limb that is going to be trimmed. All trees will be cut to a low stump and the debris cut up and hauled off site. This work will occur any time on or after September 18, 2017 as staffing and weather conditions allow. For more information or questions please contact Dan Badertscher, City Engineering, at 266-4086.
