Last Week

Zoning change and Men's Shelter decisions postponed

At last week's Common Council meeting, the proposal to change sections of Madison's zoning code was referred to the May 18th meeting. I will be working to share out more information about these proposed changes over the next month. The budget amendment to allow for the purchase of the property at 2002 Zeier Road for a new men's shelter was referred to the May 4th meeting. 

Library reopening still on hold

On Thursday, the Madison Public Library Board voted to postpone a decision to expand in-person services until their May 6 meeting. You can read more details here.

This Week

Spring election on Tuesday

If you haven't returned your absentee ballot already, you can drop it off at your polling location on Tuesday. Those without an absentee ballot can register and vote in person on Tuesday. Polls are open between 7a-8p. You can find more information about your Spring Election Ballot here and check out my recent blog post about the referendum questions here. The primary contested race on the ballot for D15 voters will be for State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

You can find your polling place by entering your address here. **Note that Ward 16 (Eastmorland) polling location has been moved to the new Pinney library for this election.**

Garver Path/Starkweather Drive meeting

Join city staff on Thursday, April 8, at 6 pm for a preconstruction meeting. Prep work is already underway for the project and activity will be underway beginning next week. You can find out all the details for this project as well as a link to register for the meeting here

Virtual town hall on COVID-19 vaccines

Public Health Madison & Dane County will be hosting a virtual town hall on COVID-19 vaccines on Thursday, April 8, at 6pm. Public health experts will address common concerns related to differences among vaccine efficacy and provide an update about the vaccine distribution process in Dane County.  The event is free and everyone is encouraged to attend. The event will be held on Zoom and participants can register here to receive the Zoom link to attend. The event will be limited to 500 people on a first come, first served basis.
