Ride the Drive - June 7th!

May 7, 2015 8:41 PM

Please join us at RIDE THE DRIVE Downtown!

Event Information

The City of Madison and Madison Parks are excited to bring Ride the Drive, presented by Trek, back for its seventh year!  We will be hosting Ride the Drive-Downtown on Sunday, June 7 from 10am to 3pm.

Ride the Drive was inspired by the Ciclovia in Bogota, Colombia, where city streets are closed to car traffic to allow people to participate in all kinds of free health and community-oriented events. In celebration of Madison's commitment to bicycling and healthy lifestyles, Madison hosted its first Ride the Drive in 2009. Seven years of successful events later, we are proud to call this a Madison tradition.

Ride the Drive, is a car-free, care free event that transforms some of Madison's streets into a public promenade. During the Downtown event, roads in the five mile route are open for participants to bike, skate or walk through some of Madison's signature streets. Along the route, there will be activities, informational booths, musicians, food vendors and other entertainment for thousands of visitors to enjoy.

The downtown route will be the same iconic route as last year's, featuring the Capitol Square, East Washington Avenue and John Nolen Drive. Complete maps of the Ride the Drive routes can be found on the Ride the Drive website.

There are many different ways for the community to get involved in this year's Ride the Drive events. Corporations are encouraged to help sponsor the events, while local businesses and organizations can host an activity or have a vendor or food booth along the routes.  This event also has many volunteer opportunities to help the event run smoothly.

We invite participants of all ages to come out and Ride the Drive with the City of Madison and Madison Parks!

Please consider volunteering!

The City of Madison and Madison Parks are pleased to bring Ride the Drive back for its seventh year on Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 10am – 3pm. Ride the Drive is a community event that turns a 5-mile loop of Madison's signature streets into a public promenade that is open to bikers, walkers, rollerbladers, and those out to share in the experience and fun atmosphere.

Please help support this great community event by joining our team of volunteers.

Assistance is greatly needed as crossroad intersection guides along the route to ensure that participants can safely enjoy the event. There are a variety of other positions available including bike ambassadors, information station guides, set up volunteers, merchandise tent volunteers, balloon / donation volunteers, and area captains. Shifts vary from 2 hours to all day. Please consider joining us for the event!  Have more fun by asking a friend to volunteer for the same shift.

Individual volunteers can sign-up using this link.
