5614 Schroeder Road: Second Meeting and Application Information

October 24, 2018 12:20 PM

Many people in the surrounding area of 5614 Schroeder Road recently got a postcard about an upcoming second meeting about this project. The purpose of the second meeting is to give residents an update on the process and discuss neighborhood questions and concerns about this proposed Affordable Housing project. I wanted to share that meeting information here. I also have included information about the applicant's planning application below.

Please join us for a second neighborhood meeting regarding Stone House Development's development proposal for 5614 Schroeder Road. Stone House proposes to construct Schroeder Road Apartments, a mixed-use building comprised of 96 apartment units, 81 of which would be affordable, and approximately 4,000 square feet of commercial space that is slated to be a restaurant. Twenty integrated supportive units would be set aside for formerly homeless families and veterans. Stone House has partnered with The Road Home and Dane County Veterans Service to provide supportive services.

This meeting will be held for the specific purpose of addressing questions and concerns around three areas: public safety, traffic management and effects on MMSD/Falk Elementary. Appropriate City and School District staff will be there to answer questions. Stone House Development representatives as well as City Planning staff will be there to give a short summary of the proposal and of the land use approval process at the beginning of the meeting. However, the main impetus is to allow people the chance to ask questions in the three areas stated above.

Wednesday, November 7, 2018 - 7:00 pm
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Peterson Hall - 5701 Raymond Road
(Please use main entrance on the south side of the building.)

Stone House has officially submitted their application for a demolition permit and conditional use approval. You can view that application here: http://www.cityofmadison.com/dpced/planning/5614-schroeder-road/2924/

The application will have a hearing at the Urban Design Commission (UDC) on December 5, 2018. There will be a Planning Commission hearing on December 17, 2018. This applicant will not require City Council approval. In addition to attending the November 7th meeting, residents are welcome to provide written feedback to both boards via Colin Punt (cpunt@cityofmadison.com). Residents are also welcome to attend and testify at the UDC and Plan Commission hearings.
