A brief update which includes open office hours reminder for Tuesday, a new Metro Transit website and expanded drop-off site hours.

Open Office Hours

Reminder: Tomorrow evening (3/26/2019), I will have open office hours from 4:30-7pm at Alicia Ashman Library - Study Room - 733 N High Point Rd, Madison, WI 53717. Feel free to come by, say hi and pick up a good book to read! You can also vote early for the April 2nd election!

New Metro Transit Website

Information Technology and Metro Transit are excited to announce the launch of the new Metro Transit website. The IT Web Team and Metro have worked together to produce a new website that offers significant improvements for bus riders.

Highlights of improvements and new features:

  • Mobile Friendly Responsive Design: The site is designed to work well on any device, including smart phones. This is extremely helpful for bus riders on-the-go, as well as residents without access to desktop or laptop computers.
  • Real-time Bus Departure Information: Riders can track their bus and know when the next bus will depart.
  • Route Schedules & Bus Stops: Improved usability of route schedules and bus stops to make it easier for riders to plan their trip.
  • Spanish: Most of the new website and tools are available in Spanish.
  • Enhanced Outreach Features: Riders have new ways to get updates about Metro bus services via email or text message, including the ability to subscribe to email updates about the specific routes that they ride.
  • Paratransit Services: Enhanced information and tools for paratransit services, including an interactive service area map.
  • Improved Accessibility: The site is more accessible to all, including optimizations for screen readers and improved readability of text.

Drop-off Sites Expanded Hours Start Saturday, March 30, 2019

On Saturday, March 30, 2019 all three of the Streets Division's drop off sites will begin expanded summer hours.

Beginning on March 30, they will be open seven days a week (except holidays).  The sites will be open 8:30am to 4:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.  The sites will be open 8:30am to 8:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Expanded hours will end for the year on Sunday, December 8, 2019.

The sites are located at 1501 W. Badger Rd., 4602 Sycamore Ave, and 402 South Point Rd.

The Badger Rd. and Sycamore Ave. locations accept a variety of material for recycling and disposal.  Yard waste, brush, Styrofoam, household batteries, televisions and other electronics, and even more can be can be dropped off. Please visit the drop-off site web page  for a list of all items accepted at the sites.

The drop off site at 402 South Point Rd. only accepts yard waste.

All three sites are available only for City of Madison residents or taxpayers.  Individuals using the site will be asked to prove their residency or taxpayer status, so be prepared to show a driver's license or another official form – such as a utility bill or a tax bill.

Until the hours expand on Saturday, March 30, the drop off sites will be open for winter hours, meaning only the Badger Rd. and Sycamore Ave. locations are available, and they are open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 3:00pm.
