August 21, 2019 3:13 PM

A few topics in today's update including a reminder about tomorrow's office hours, a save the date notification for a public meeting about 5237 University Ave (formerly Perkins), 8/20 Flooding Anniversary and info on some City of Madison Podcasts.

Open Office Hours

Reminder: Tomorrow evening (Thursday, 8/22/2019), I will have open office hours from 4:30-7pm at Alicia Ashman Library - Study Room - 733 N High Point Rd, Madison, WI 53717. Feel free to come by, say hi and pick up a good book to read!

Save the Date: 5237 University Ave (formerly Perkins)

On October 23rd, I will host a community meeting to discuss the latest proposal for 5237 University Ave (formerly Perkins site) at Spring Harbor Middle School. I'll send out more details next month, but I know there is a lot of interest in this project and I wanted to send out a save the date notification.

8/20 Flooding Anniversary

Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the extreme flash flooding that hit our community. The Engineering Department shared some useful links:

  • The August 20, 2018 storm resulted in a tremendous amount of rain on the far west side of the city, which you can see in the map showing the storm's rainfall totals ?. The extreme amount of rainfall highlighted some serious systematic problems that require a larger perspective to resolve in a responsible manner.
