Public transportation is a service, not a luxury. It is my view that cities should seek to maximize ridership coverage over maximizing ridership numbers, because the former is, on its face, the more equitable strategy.

Lots of meetings to check out this week, including public information sessions on the Yahara Hills Golf Course Redesign. Several changes to the Metro bus routes begin Sunday August 27th. Taste of Madison is this coming weekend, and many more fun events are scheduled. Information on the City budget process, street construction projects, and brush pick-up dates are all included in this week's updates.

I can't believe that August is almost over! August is a little slow at the City, but things are going to ramp up quickly. I'll be keeping you updated on the 2024 budget process, along with other City happenings. Check out this week's blog post for information on the redevelopment of the Brayton parking lot downtown, city meetings this week, road construction updates, changes to the Metro Network Redesign effective August 20th, and many interesting events and announcements. Highlights for the Week of July 24th, 2023

TONIGHT (Monday 7/24) at the Monona Terrace--come for an update on the Lake Monona Waterfront Redesign plans! Check out various Parks Alive! events this week, as well as multiple concerts and live music events, numerous family activities, even a Night Moth Walk. The All-City Swim Meet is being hosted this week at the Goodman Pool. Madison's first Disability Summit involves two virtual events this week and on Saturday, head to the Disability Pride Festival at Warner Park. Also check for Food Cart Pop-ups this week and don't forget to give your input to the West Area and West Parks Planning processes!
