Hi everyone! PLEASE NOTE: I have to reschedule the virtual Q&A I had scheduled for at 6:30 pm on Monday, August 14th due to a family emergency. I will provide details on a rescheduled date/time in a separate blog post. Here are a few time sensitive items: Last call for responding to the City's survey on the West Area Plan! Also, do you like food? Apply to be a food cart reviewer for the Fall 2023 season. Updates on road construction projects, overview of this week's City meetings, and many events and announcements. Take a look!

Happy (almost) August! There are many fun activities happening around Madison this week, including concerts, dances, movies, an adaptive family swim, and Parks Alive! events. I've also noted the items on the Common Council agenda that are specific to District 19. Please check the full list of City meetings here: https://www.cityofmadison.com/city-hall/committees/meeting-schedule, where you can find agendas and information on how to register, provide public comments (written or oral), and attend virtually (or in-person if the meeting is offered in that format).
If you have experienced any flooding issues that occurred as a result of the heavy storm last Friday, you can report them here (note that this link is only for City of Madison flooding events): https://www.cityofmadison.com/flooding/report/.
Enjoy your week and remember to leave your input on items I've highlighted in this weekly update!

Resident engagement is critical in city planning. If you live on the West Side (which includes District 19), there is an active planning process going on right now for the entire area. I can't stress enough how much I value resident input and I encourage you to weigh in on this plan and others going on around the City. (See related links below). I also encourage you to click the link I provided for the list of City meetings this week; check out the agendas and identify items of interest. Send me your input and try to attend meetings (most have a virtual option) to speak on items of greatest importance to you. I also encourage you to follow the City budget process underway. See my earlier blog post about the budget process and make a point to look at the kinds of projects and programs that City departments and divisions have requested in the Capital Budget. What do you support? What is missing that you think is important? Send me your input at district19@cityofmadison.com

This week is packed with activities, including a West Side Alders Meet & Greet. I hope to see you there! There is another important meeting that conflicts with this, and I hope some of you will consider attending that one, where an update to Madison's Comprehensive Plan will be presented.
