The week of January 3 has items of possible interest to residents of district 2 at the Common Council Organizational Committee, the Common Council – Discussion, the Common Council, the Board of Public Works, the Public Market Development Committee, and the Madison Police Department Policy & Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee. The city meeting agenda items are open for testimony from the public should you be interested in weighing in.  I also appreciate hearing from you on any items on which you have a particular interest or concern so please send me an email or give me a call.

Also, committees and commissions have an opportunity at the beginning of each agenda for Public Comment on items not on the agenda.  If you have something you want to share with a committee or commission, you can use the Public Comment time to do so.

Elizabeth Katt Reinders, senior campaign representative with Sierra Club's Beyond Coal campaign will provide a briefing to Council members on how cities can lead on solutions to climate change and Madison's opportunity to reduce carbon emissions and create a clean energy economy that addresses social equity and public health. The presentation will focus on the electricity sector, how cities across the country are committing to 100% clean energy and how Madison is poised to be a leader in these efforts.

Following the Ms. Reinders presentation, Raj Shukla, chair of Sustainable Madison Committee (SMC), will present background, context and intent of the 100% clean energy resolution that passed the SMC and will be introduced at the January 3, 2017 Common Council meeting for referral.
