The week of June 11 has items of possible interest to residents of district 2 at the Finance Committee, the Plan Commission, the Historic Preservation Plan Advisory Committee, the Street Use Staff Commission, the Transit and Parking Commission, the Alcohol License Review Committee, the Board of Park Commissioners, the Urban Forestry Task Force, the Equal Opportunities Commission and the Madison Police Department Policy & Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee. The city meeting agenda items are open for testimony from the public should you be interested in weighing in.  I also appreciate hearing from you on any items on which you have a particular interest or concern so please send me an email or give me a call.

Also, committees and commissions have an opportunity at the beginning of each agenda for Public Comment on items not on the agenda.  If you have something you want to share with a committee or commission, you can use the Public Comment time to do so.

Future Commission Items

  • The Long Range Planning Subcommittee is likely to approve a draft version of the Park and Open Space Plan (POSP) over the next month or so. Staff anticipates bringing this to the Park Commission in July.
  • Staff will be presenting a general overview of the work on planning for the future of Golf to the Golf Subcommittee in June. Staff anticipates having further discussions with the Commission in the fall of this year.
  • Community Service staff are working on an update to the Parking Ordinance for Parks and are hopeful to be able to use this as an opportunity to create a legal framework related to parking in Parks that is more consistent, transparent, and promotes voluntary compliance with parking regulations.
  • Community Services staff are also working with Food Policy staff on a pilot program related to food procurement processes.
  • Planning and Development staff will present an overview of the Capital Budget and planned projects for 2019 in September or October after the Mayor releases his Capital Budget.
  • Bids were opened on Breese Stevens Concession and Restroom Addition on May 24th; only one bid was received which significantly exceeded the budget. The contract is scheduled to be rebid in July.
