Climate Change Rally

On Saturday, December 1, starting at 3:10 p.m.

The Madison Marathon half marathon and full marathon will take place this Sunday, November 11, starting at 7:00 a.m.

Streets crossing State Street will begin closing at 5:00 p.m. for Freakfest on Saturday, October 27.  Lake Street, Johnson Street, and Dayton Street will all close at 5:00 p.m.   Gorham Street will stay open until 6:00 p.m.  Streets will be closed until approximately 3:00 a.m.

Langdon Street and surrounding streets will start to close at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, for the UW Homecoming Parade. 

East Mifflin Street will be closed between North Paterson Street and North Dickinson Street on Friday, October 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Today, Thursday, September 13, starting at 2:00 p.m., the Madison Central Business Improvement District will close West Gilman Street between University Avenue and North Henry Street for the Madison Night Market.  The street will reopen at 1:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14. 

Several streets in and around downtown will be closed for the Ironman Triathlon on Sunday, September 9.   The race consists of swimming in Lake Monona, bicycling in Dane County, and running in the downtown/campus area.  The race starts at 6:40 a.m.

The following streets are closed:

OutReach Pride Parade will close several downtown streets on Sunday, August 19.

Several streets will be closed Saturday morning, August 18 due to the Madison Mini Marathon.  The race starts on Langdon Street, continues to the Capitol Square, through the UW Arboretum, and back to the UW campus.

Two streets will be closed for La Fete De Marquette event at McPike Park this week.

South Ingersoll Street will be closed between East Main Street and East Wilson Street from 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11 until 1:00 a.m. on Monday, July 16.

Due to a concert at Breese Stevens Field on Friday, June 22, the following streets will be closed:

John Nolen Drive and North Shore Drive will be closed this Sunday, June 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for Ride the Drive. 

North Blair Street will be fully closed from East Gorham Street to East Washington Avenue.  Work will not extend into the East Johnson Street intersection.  East Gorham Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic during off peak hours only.

Several Madison streets will be closed this weekend for three Run Madtown races held by Madison Festivals.

Starting 7:00 a.m. on Monday, April 2, Capitol Underground will close North Hancock Street between East Johnson Street and East Washington Avenue for street reconstruction.

The week of March 19 has items of possible interest to residents of district 2 at the Landmarks Commission, the Task Force on Structure of City Government, the Common Council, the Street Use Staff Commission, the Board of Public Works, the Economic Development Committee, the Alcohol License Revie

The Madison Shamrock Shuffle run will take place on Saturday, March 17th.  Runners start on State Street and head east toward West Gilman Street. 

A national school walkout is planned to take place Wednesday, March 14.

On Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 23rd, the Festival Foods Turkey Trot will take place around Breese Stevens Field.  There are two routes that both start and finish at Breese Stevens Field:

Multiple streets around Langdon Street will be closed on Friday afternoon, October 20th, for the UW Homecoming Parade.  The parade starts at 6:00 p.m.  The following streets will be closed:

East Mifflin Street will be closed between North Paterson Street and North Dickinson Street on Friday, October 13th, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 16th, the eastbound traffic lane of East Mifflin Street will be closed between North Livingston Street and North Paterson Street for full-depth pavement replacement.  The closure will remain until 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19th.

Due to an emergency gas leak, Madison Gas & Electric will close the two right traffic lanes on East Johnson Street at the North Butler Street and North Hamilton Street intersection today, Friday, October 6th in order to repair the leak.

On Wednesday, October 4th, City Traffic Engineering crews installed a test traffic diverter at the East Mifflin Street and North Blair Street intersection.  A map of the test can be seen here:

The Wisconsin Foundation & Alumni Association will close Langdon Street between North Park Street and North Lake Street on Friday, October 6th from noon until 9:00 p.m. for the UW Alumni Park Opening Celebration. 

Pedestrian access will remain open.

Due to events at Breese Stevens Field on Friday, September 29th and Saturday, September 30th the following streets will be closed from 9:00 a.m. on Friday until 4:00 a.m. on Sunday:

The following information came in today from Traffic Engineering:

Starting on Monday, September 11, the center traffic lanes of West Washington Avenue will be closed in both directions at Bedford Street by INTREN Construction in order to install underground utilities for Madison Gas & Electric.

Due to events at Breese Stevens Field on Saturday, September 2nd and Sunday, September 3rd, the following streets will be closed:

Starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, August 21st, InterCon Construction will fully close the intersection of East Mifflin Street and North Baldwin Street in order to install underground Madison Gas & Electric utilities.  The closure will last until 7:00 a.m. on Monday, August 28th.  

Several downtown streets will be closed Saturday morning, August 19th due to the Madison Mini Marathon.  The race starts on Langdon Street, continues to the Capitol Square, through the UW Arboretum, and back to the UW campus. 

OutReach Pride Parade will close several downtown streets on Sunday, August 20th. 

Starting at 7:00 a.m.

Paddle & Portage runners will cross the isthmus between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 29th.  Participants will start at James Madison Park, run on North Hamilton Street to Pinckney Street to King Street, to East Wilson Street, across South Blair Street to Law Park. 

During the day, on Friday, July 21st, InterCon Construction will close eastbound traffic on the 1100 block of East Mifflin Street (between Ingersoll Street and Few Street) in order to install underground Madison Gas & Electric utilities.  The closure is expected to last three weeks.

Starting at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 19th, RG Huston will close North Bassett Street between West Johnson Street and West Dayton Street. 

John Nolen Drive and North Shore Drive will be closed this Sunday, July 16th from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for Ride the Drive. 

John Nolen Drive will be closed from Olin Avenue to the South Blair Street & Williamson Street intersection.

Two streets will be closed for the La Fete De Marquette event at Central Park this week.

South Ingersoll Street will be closed between East Main Street and East Wilson Street from 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12th until 1:00 a.m. on Monday, July 17th.

On Monday, July 3rd, InterCon Construction will open the intersection of East Mifflin Street and North Few Street.  This intersection had been closed for two weeks for installation of MG&E underground utilities.

At 7:00 a.m. on Monday, June 19th, InterCon Construction will close the intersection of East Mifflin Street and North Few Street in order to install underground Madison Gas & Electric utilities.

The closure is expected to last two weeks.

Several Madison streets will be closed this weekend for three races held by Madison Festivals. 

Starting 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30th, InterCon Construction will close eastbound East Mifflin Street traffic between North Few Street and North Baldwin Street (1200 block) in order to install underground utilities for Madison Gas & Electric.

At 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23rd, Capitol Underground will begin construction of Langdon Street between North Lake Street and North Carroll Street.  Langdon Street will be closed to through traffic at that time. 

On Saturday, May 20th, Gorham Street will be closed completely and detoured at North Blair Street starting at 7:00 a.m. The full closure is needed to complete the asphalt paving.  The street is expected to reopen around 3:00 p.m.

Starting on Monday, May 15th, Payne and Dolan will begin resurfacing Gorham Street from North Butler Street to State Street. 

Starting at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11th, West Gilman Street will be closed between University Avenue and North Henry Street, and North Broom Street will be closed between West Gorham Street and State Street for the Madison Night Market.  The closures will last until 1:00 a.m.
