City Continues to Curtail Traffic Speeds on East Washington Avenue

The following was released by the Mayor's Office. In subsequent conversation, I was assured that the increased traffic enforcement measures by MPD on E. Washington and nearby streets are focusing primarily on excessive speeding and OWI.

Traffic safety is an important aspect of our quality of life. Our growing city, with a significant amount of that growth in District 2, has resulted in increasing concerns about traffic safety, including especially around Lapham School and on the Mifflin Bike Boulevard.

At 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30th, inbound and outbound West Washington Avenue will be closed at Carroll Street. This closure will last until 7:00 a.m. Monday, April 3rd when the intersection will be fully open.

Starting Wednesday, March 22nd at 5:00 a.m., J.H. Findorff will close West Doty Street to all vehicular traffic from South Hamilton Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, in order to dismantle two tower cranes at the Anchor Properties Development project.
