The following was released by the Mayor's Office. In subsequent conversation, I was assured that the increased traffic enforcement measures by MPD on E. Washington and nearby streets are focusing primarily on excessive speeding and OWI.

East Johnson Street Full Opening Delayed

Updates on District 2 parking, traffic, and street reconstruction follow.

A few items are below concerning the ongoing reconstruction of East Johnson and First Streets.

This year's first Concert on the Square will take place on Wednesday, June 27.  There are six concerts this year--each Wednesday thru August 1.  For each concert, the following streets will close at 3:00 p.m. and reopen at midnight:

Many downtown streets will be closed on Saturday morning, April 29th for the Crazylegs Classic run/walk.

Traffic safety is an important aspect of our quality of life.  Our growing city, with a significant amount of that growth in District 2, has resulted in increasing concerns about traffic safety, including especially around Lapham School and on the Mifflin Bike Boulevard.

At 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30th, inbound and outbound West Washington Avenue will be closed at Carroll Street.  This closure will last until 7:00 a.m. Monday, April 3rd when the intersection will be fully open. 

Starting Wednesday, March 22nd at 5:00 a.m., J.H. Findorff will close West Doty Street to all vehicular traffic from South Hamilton Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, in order to dismantle two tower cranes at the Anchor Properties Development project.
