1. Ace Apartments Meeting
Thank you to those who attended the Ace Apartments meeting on Tuesday, August 20. The presentation slides from the meeting provide details on the project overview, timeline and updates to their design.
As mentioned, they were planning to submit their Land Use Application soon, and if they proceed on schedule, that will tentatively put this project before the Urban Design Commission on October 16 and the Plan Commission on October 28. I'll keep everyone posted on this.
2. Meadowlands Multi-Family Residences Updates
The developer submitted updates to the building designs in response to feedback they received at the August 14 Urban Design Commission meeting. The project will now go before UDC again on Wednesday, September 4 to seek a preliminary approval.
The proposal is now tentatively scheduled for the October 28 Plan Commission meeting.
3. Kwik Trip's Land Use Application submitted
Kwik Trip has submitted their Land Use Application for their new proposed location at the corner of Sprecher and Cottage Grove Roads. The project is scheduled for the September 16 Plan Commission meeting.
4. Mayor Rhodes-Conway to Release Capital Budget Tuesday
The Mayor's 2020 Capital Budget and Capital Improvement Plan will be released on Tuesday, September 3. The Mayor is scheduled to hold a press conference outlining the budget at 1 pm. The Mayor's 2020 Operating Budget will be released on October 1. The 2020 budget outlook includes a deficit of approximately $10 million, so in the coming months tough choices will need to be made by the Mayor and Common Council as we work together to address Madison's services, needs, priorities, and goals.
5. Join the Rolling Meadows Neighborhood Association Board
The Rolling Meadows Neighborhood Association is looking for individuals in the neighborhood to join the Board of Directors. In this role, you will help plan events, keep the neighborhood informed, and make sure that everyone has a voice.

7. Volunteer with Friends of McGinnis Park
Friends of McGinnis Park is a new group that focuses on maintaining McGinnis Park on Crystal Lane.
They have regular volunteer work times at McGinnis Park, open to everyone interested in helping out:
- Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 - 11:00am
- Saturday from 9 am - 12 pm
They need help with planting, weeding and keeping the park clean.
Future plans for McGinnis Park include installation of a community garden, bat houses, and a donation of some art sculptures.
You can learn more by visiting the group's Facebook page, or by emailing friendsofmcginnispark@gmail.com.
Leadership opportunities within this newly-formed group are also available. Please email them for more details.

Get the latest information on the Madison Public Market, including a design reveal. At this meeting, you'll view detailed designs for the Madison Public Market. City Staff and the project architects will share information about the mix and layout of merchants at the market, the event spaces, informal gathering areas, the market kitchen, outdoor plazas, and potential community arts/exhibit spaces. There will also be an update on pedestrian, bike and car access, building entries and landscaping plans. 11. F35 Aircraft
A reminder that you can find the Executive Summary of the F35 Environmental Impact Statement here and the full report can be accessed here.
You are more than welcome to contact me and other elected officials with your thoughts on the proposed stationing of F35s at Truax Field, but I also encourage you to submit comments via the Air National Guard's official public comment channels as this is a decision being made by the federal government, not the City of Madison. Those comments can be made through September 27 and can be made online or by mail. The link for public comments can be accessed here.
The Air National Guard has scheduled a public open house on September 12, from 5-8pm at the Alliant Energy Center, and comments can also be made in person there. A final decision will be made early next year.
City staff from various departments are working on a review of the EIS, including impacts of noise, stormwater and other issues. The end result will likely be a response to the EIS from the Mayor's office, but the staff analysis will be shared when complete.
