I sincerely hope you are enjoying summer. I've had the pleasure of dining al fresco, taking in Concerts on the Square (at Breese Stevens), and hanging out with friends at the Terrace. My garden is growing, and my first foray into home composting is going quite well.
Speaking of compost, the City is no longer able to accept your food scraps at city drop off points. But, there will be a program coming soon to promote home-based composting with a sale of compost bins. Keep your eyes peeled! There was a great article in today's Wisconsin State Journal describing just how much methane our food scraps give off when they are taken to the landfill. We can all do our part to reduce food waste.
Our Streets Division is interested in hearing from you. Let's Talk Streets is seeking input on how our streets impact our diverse communities, which will influence how our streets develop over the coming years and decades. Until the end of July, EQT by Design, whom the city has contracted with to particularly engage Black, Indigenous, Brown, and People of Color, will provide a $15 gift card to complete the survey.
There is also still time to share your input about future Metro routes.
On Tuesday July 27, there will be a movie shown on the big screen at Camp Randall. This event is for University faculty, staff and their guests only, but I wanted you to be aware of potential impacts on parking and noise on Tuesday evening. Gates open at 6pm, and the movie starts at 7:20pm.
Speaking of Camp Randall, on Thursday, August 12th at 6:00pm in the Camp Randall Media Room, UW athletics will provide an update on the fall football season. It's been awhile since our neighborhood has felt the full impact of football Saturdays, so this meeting will be an opportunity for you to learn about upcoming plans.
- Parking will be available after 4:30pm in Lot 19 near the SW corner of the stadium at the intersection of Regent Street and Breese Terrace.
- The primary entrance to the media room is near Gate D of the Field House, however, Gate C may be used based on current construction. Personnel will be on site to direct you to the meeting location.
A first time ever Music Economic Impact Analysis will be released during a special event at Café Coda on August 2 from 5pm – 7pm. The Arts Commission and Planning Division are proud to be part of the Greater Madison Music City project.
And, once again a reminder to please lock your vehicles and your doors, close your garage, and turn on your outside lights at night. These simple steps help prevent burglaries.
