How Lovely Are Thy Branches Winter 2022 Labyrinth - Opening Day Celebration | City of Madison, City of Madison, Wisconsin

pening Day to the Public, SUNDAY JAN 30, 2022
3:00 PM to 5:30PM
Sunset is at 5:07 PM that day.

No "rain date" is scheduled.

Schedule for the Opening Celebration:

Gathering begins at 3 PM
The Mexican restaurant "Taco Local"  will have their food truck on site to provide snacks, chili, and warm drinks during the opening festivities.

At around 4:15 PM, the Artist will make remarks and thanks will be presented.

Around 4:30PM, to open and energize the labyrinth, a special illuminated Glowing Hoop Procession will be presented by Hoop Elation founder and Instructor Danielle Lee  and others. As the performers exit the labyrinth, the public will then be invited in to walk the labyrinth and enjoy the sunset for the first time!

The public is invited to bring a light: such as solar lights, LED candles, glow sticks, headlamps, flashlights, etc. No open flames are allowed. Folding chairs, hand warmers may be welcome. Dress warm for outdoor activity.

Parking is free at the site, with several other lots within walking distance.

Kite Aerial Photographer Craig Wilson , will be documenting the event from the air.

Labyrinth is open throughout the month of February 2022. The labyrinth is FREE and open to the public during normal park hours, from Jan 30th through the month of February, 2022. The Labyrinth may be closed to access, if weather conditions are muddy or otherwise unfavorable.

Even though we will be outdoors, COVID protocols are in effect for safety in larger gatherings. People will be passing each other on the path way - Masks are encouraged. We ask if people are experiencing any COVID symptoms to visit the labyrinth at another time. The labyrinth will be open the whole month of February, with ample opportunity to walk the circuit without encountering a crowd.
