Five Neighborhood meetings May 3-15

These are the first five of a series of meetings scheduled in May. Future announcements will be coming for a neighborhood meeting about a proposed hotel on the Mautz block at E Washington and Paterson, the second meeting to review the latest plans for CoHo Madison and more! 


1. Please join me for a neighborhood meeting where we will hear about a proposal to open Working Draft Beer Company (WDBC) at 1129 E. Wilson Street.  WDBC would brew beer on-site in a 1,700 square foot brew plant/production floor and serve beer and a BBQ menu from Underground Food Collective in a 1,700 square foot taproom/dining room (71 seats) and 525 square foot outdoor patio (44 seats).  There would be no slow-cooking of food on the premises and no amplified music on the patio.  Production brewery hours would be Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.  Hours of operation would be Monday-Thursday, 3:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m.; and Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.  The proposal would require a Conditional Use Permit from the City.

2. Please join me for a neighborhood meeting where we will hear about Brandon Cook's proposal to demolish the existing structure at 801 Williamson Street and build a three-story, mixed-use building on the site.  The new building would have commercial space on the first floor and residential space on the second and third floors, consisting of two studio units and two two-bedroom units.

3. Please join me for a neighborhood meeting where we will learn about owners Daniel Mijal and Caleb Percevecz's proposal to open Hail Mary Sports Grill at 401 E. Washington Avenue, former location of Bellini Italian Restaurant. 


The owners have applied for a Class B Combination Liquor & Beer license. Proposed hours of operation are Monday-Thursday, 11:00 a.m.-12:00 a.m.; Friday, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m.; and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 a.m. The estimated capacity of the establishment is 225, which includes an outdoor patio.

4. Please join me and City Planning staff for an Open House where our Planning team will present the complete DRAFT Plan the Darbo-Worthington-Starkweather plan for review and comment, and ask for your input on funding priorities for proposed neighborhood projects. This will be also an opportunity for you to form or join one of the actions teams that the neighbors have created through this planning process.


We will have food and beverages for all attendees and there will also be childcare and language assistance (Hmong and Spanish).
