Madison Opportunity Zones

Opportunity Zones are a new federal economic development program created by the 2017 tax law.  The program provides a powerful tax incentive to encourage long term investments in real estate projects and businesses located in federally designated areas.

Communities and investors across the country are seeing the enormous potential of this new tool to help capitalize projects and improve neighborhoods. The Madison Area has eleven designated Opportunity Zone Census Tracts encompassing approximately 14,000 acres of property in parts of Madison, Fitchburg, and Sun Prairie.

More information about the Opportunity Zone program and about Madison's designated Opportunity Zone areas can also be found in the Madison Opportunity Zone Investment Prospectus
