Fire Department

An observant neighbor dialed 911 upon noticing smoke coming from a nearby garage. Ladder Co. 6 and other Madison Fire companies were dispatched, finding light gray smoke in the area as they approached the 900 block of Dane Street.

Firefighters pulled their 200-foot pre-connect hose line for fire attack and made their way to the garage. Upon entry, they were met with flames and smoke. Ladder 6 was able to knock down the fire quickly, and investigators were asked to respond to the scene.

Occupants were home at the time but unaware the fire was occurring. Their neighbor alerted them just after calling 911.

Nobody was injured in the fire, but the garage and some items stored inside were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
