  • This training will explore the impact of wellness for employees in their personal and professional lives, discuss the benefit of reducing stress, increasing mental and physical health, improving work satisfaction and productivity, and to explore often overlooked areas of how stress can impact work units.   • Investigative interview skills are essential tools to the employee misconduct investigation process. This workshop is intended to provide managers and supervisors with the knowledge base needed to conduct investigations with a focus on the investigative interview.

    Overall employee misconduct investigative procedures will be introduced, including effective interview skills and techniques. Participants will learn what types of questions to ask and how to ask them. Ideas will be offered about the best approach to use with victims, alleged perpetrators and witnesses as well as giving guidance to determine when an investigation is complete and how to assess contradictory information.

You’ll come prepared with a draft of your Action Plan, which we’ll walk through together. This is the time to bounce your ideas off of an HR expert and to gather advice and resources to bring your Action Plan to the next level. First come, first served basis.

  • Harassment in the workplace can be a form of illegal employment discrimination. This workshop is designed to provide employees with a greater understanding of the City's APM 3-5 and the legal and social implications of discrimination in the form of sexual, gender, racial or disability-based harassment in the workplace. Emphasis will be placed on increasing sensitivity to what constitutes a problem and why an immediate, constructive response is important. Discussion will also focus on exploring good management practices and policies requiring the maintenance of an environment that is free of discriminatory harassment.

  • Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade, and refer someone to help. This EAP conducted QPR training will focus on suicide prevention in the workplace and at home, and will include additional education around special populations, such as QPR with children and adolescents, older adults, military and law enforcement, and substance abuse issues.

  • In this two part training series, we will provide current supervisors with an opportunity to receive a refresher training on what the Employee Assistance Program is and how it can assist supervisors in navigating challenging and sensitive issues that arise in their employees. We will provide education and skills on:

    1. Trauma-informed supervision.
    2. Increase your skillset in having constructive conversations with your employees when they are having a tough time at work.
    3. Navigating alcohol and other drug abuse issues in the workplace, including setting appropriate boundaries.
    4. Learning about caregiver stress and how to support caregivers in the workplace.
    5. Responding to employee and employee significant other death, loss, and grief in the workplace, including how to respond to your team in an effective and sensitive way.
