UPDATE 1

Three people were arrested early Saturday morning following reports of a shooting between vehicles and a car crash.

 

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of S. Park St. and W. Washington Ave. around 2:50 a.m. for reports of shots being fired.

 

Officers arrived and were initially unable to locate any signs of a shooting at this location.

 

Minutes later, an officer reported seeing a shootout between vehicles at Fish Hatchery Dr. and Carver St. One of the vehicles ended up crashing and three people were spotted running away from the crash scene.

 

The car involved was damaged by a bullet and a gun was found outside of the vehicle.

 

A K-9 unit and a member of the Madison Police Department's Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drone) team were called in to assist with locating the suspects.

 

The K-9 was able to track the scene of a suspect to a nearby wooded area. Using a heat sensor, the drone operator was able to locate and direct the K-9 unit to the other two suspects.

 

Dazjon J. Thompson, 18, was arrested on several charges including 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety, operating a motor vehicle without consent, resisting or obstructing and bail jumping.

 

Maurice L. Washington, 24, was arrested for felon in possession, 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety, resisting or obstructing and operating a motor vehicle without an owner's consent (party to a crime).

 

Shondrell R. Evans, 25, was arrested on several charges including felon in possession, 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety, operating a motor vehicle without an owner's consent, resisting or obstructing and bail jumping.

 

The Violent Crimes Unit is leading this investigation. It remains active at this time.

Details

Officers were dispatched to the 300 blk S. Park St. reference shots fired.  A short time later there was a motor vehicle crash in the 2000 blk Fish Hatchery.  The vehicle/crash possibly related to the shots fired call in the 300 blk S. Park St.  No one injured and no damage located/reported.  Investigation is on-going.
