Details

The Madison Police Department found no signs of explosives at La Follette High School after a threatening email was sent to staff members.

Several staff received an anonymous email mentioning a bomb threat and other acts of violence toward the school.

Officers were dispatched to the building around 11 a.m. Thursday.

An MPD K-9 team conducted a search of lockers and school grounds and no explosives were found.

A 16-year-old male was arrested for terrorists threats (party to a crime) for the incident. He was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center.

The Madison Metropolitan School District sent a letter home to La Follette families about this incident.

School leaders, per guidance from MPD, activated its Safety Response Protocol and put the building in a "secure" status, meaning no one was permitted to enter or exit the building. A "hold" was also activated, which meant staff and students remained in their classrooms.

MMSD and MPD continue to work together in this investigation.
