2015: K9 Man-Trailing Seminar

This three-day training will consist of teaching police K9s to follow a specific scent to conclusion regardless of surface type, or environmental distractions. The K9 Handlers will learn how to read their K9, and develop an individualized training program that will lead to success on the street.

K9 handlers will learn what their K9 is capable of when it comes to man-trailing. The K9 will develop a strong desire to stay with the original odor they were directed to follow. The K9 handler will see their K9 work through problems and distractions allowing them to learn how to read and trust their K9. Training exercises will include: scent specific tracking/trailing in heavily contaminated areas over various surfaces, scent article starts, door ids, casting to find scent, developing a natural indication to id, reading no scent present/track ends due to vehicle pick up, and successfully working trails 24+ hours old.

The primary training methods used are from International Bloodhound Training Institutes' founder and master trainer Kevin Kocher. Each attendee will receive his 344 page book titled: "How to Train a Police Bloodhound".
