2015: ARIDE Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement

The Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) program was developed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It was created to bridge the training gap between Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST) and the Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) program. ARIDE is a 16-hour training course taught by Drug Recognition Experts (DRE). The topics covered in the class include: OWI legal overview/update, SFST refresher, and identifying drivers impaired by drugs. ARIDE is a pre-requisite for DRE candidates and an excellent training course for officers active in traffic/OWI enforcement.
