Transit Network Redesign
The draft network redesign plan has been approved. New, redesigned Metro service will go into effect in 2023.
This service redesign will make trips more frequent, routes more straight and direct, reduce issues related to transfers, and make the system easier to use.
The complete reboot of service will also schedule routes around Metro’s future bus rapid transit system which goes into effect in 2024.
Now that a plan has been approved, the plan will undergo a Title VI equity analysis. Changes will be made if any disparate impacts are identified to any protected group.
Staff will begin assembling draft maps and schedules, and other related materials. This process cannot be completed until after the Title VI equity analysis is complete, so finalized schedules will not be available for a number of months.
Staff will, however, create an updated draft system map and individual route maps to show all approved amendments to the original draft plan.
Metro will immediately start working on outreach to the community to introduce and explain service changes coming in 2023. Look for Metro tables at community events starting later this summer.
