Public Invited To Saturday Afternoon Ceremony

This year marks the 9th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. As a measure of remembrance and reflection, the Madison Police Department is conducting a ceremony to honor those who lost their lives, and to remember those who continue to serve their communities.

The remembrance gathering will be at 5:00 p.m., Saturday afternoon, September 11, 2010, on the Monona Terrace Rooftop. Representatives from area fire departments, military units, police departments, and public works agencies will be in attendance.

The ceremony will feature music and speeches reflective of the 9/11 attacks. There will also be salutes honoring public servants - police officers, fire fighters, and many others - who proudly served their country well.

Additionally, a special announcement will be made regarding next year's Ironman event which will be held on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The public is invited to attend Saturday's ceremony.
